Motorcoach and Group Visitors

null Group Visitor Comment:

"Our AARP group had a wonderful time on our recent tour! Everyone really loved everything about the Lucy-Desi Museum: the tour, museum, gift shops, the comedy improv show in the Tropicana Room (we're still laughing!) and the fantastic meal we were served while there (we're still full!). We hope to make a return trip in the near future once other members hear about our great trip to visit The Lucy-Desi Center. Thanks once again to you and your entire staff."

- Nancy, AARP Chapter

Here at the Lucy Desi Center, we customize our tours to our guest needs.  Tours can range from one day to three days depending on your needs.  Our friendly staff can help you book dinners in the Tropicana Room, entertainment from local comedians and musicians, and much more. We also offer tours to local museums, theatres, wine trails, and many more destinations. We are dedicated to making your trip to Jamestown, New York (Lucy’s hometown) a fun and memorable experience that you and your guests will be talking about for years to come.

The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center is within 150 miles of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester, and Toronto.

Step into television history when you visit Lucy and Ricky Ricardo's New York City apartment and Hollywood hotel room in the Desilu Playhouse, the "I Love Lucy" museum. Named for the studio where "I Love Lucy" was filmed, the Desilu Playhouse features exact replicas of the most famous sets in television history, a "Vitameatavegamin" opportunity, vintage costumes and memorabilia, and more! Your group visitors will be welcomed with a special video in the Tropicana Room above the Playhouse. This reproduction of Ricky Ricardo's famous nightclub is open only to group visitors and for special events.

The Desilu Playhouse is next door to The Lucy-Desi Museum, which has entertained visitors from more than 36 countries – and thousands of motor coach passengers – since its opening on May 25, 1996. Listen to Lucy's childhood pals talk about some of their youthful antics, view exhibits featuring costumes, wardrobe and personal memorabilia of Lucy and Desi, plus screenings including excerpts from Lucie Arnaz's Emmy Award-winning documentary "Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie" and historic TV episodes. Your interactive exploration of both Lucy's and Desi's life stories will be capped off with a visit to The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center Gift Shop, with the largest selection of Lucy-Desi merchandise anywhere.

Motor coach tour groups may also enjoy a meal in The Tropicana Room. Pre-order an exclusive "Eat Like Lucy" choice! Among other lunch options is The Partridge Sheldon Mansion, with homemade cuisine and a free tour of this beautifully restored 19th century home.

Your museum guide for the day will continue with you for a Lucytown Tour, a delightful and historic look at Lucy's hometown. You'll see the homes where The Queen of Comedy was born and grew up, theaters where she performed, places where she attended school, the cemetery where she is buried with her family, and much more.

We can also schedule your visits to other Jamestown attractions, including:
  • The Reg Lenna Civic Center, the luxuriously restored former Palace Theatre where Lucille Ball watched vaudeville with her grandfather. You'll see a video where Lucy describes how her love of show business began right where you are sitting. Learn about the renovation of the theater, hear about its ghosts, and get a real "backstage tour."
  • The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, honoring the legacy of the Jamestown native recognized as the premier naturalist, the "John James Audubon," of the 20th Century. The building honoring his legacy is a striking structure designed by world-famous architect Robert A.M. Stern, known for his work with Disney and the restoration of Broadway and 42nd Street in New York City. Permanent and traveling exhibits of nature art are always on display, with walking trails and gardens outside. A gift shop is also available.
  • The Fenton History Center is in the Victorian mansion of New York State's Civil War governor, with its own "Not Your Girl Next Door" Lucy exhibit.
  • The Robert H. Jackson Center pays tribute to former Jamestown lawyer and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, who was America's chief prosecutor at the war crimes trials in Nuremberg, Germany following World War II.
  • At the Jamestown Audubon Nature Center, you can meet Liberty, a live bald eagle, learn about her story and the survival of her species, and view a natural history slide show.
We can also arrange:
  • Live entertainment by professional performers
  • Dinner at one of several fine area restaurants
  • An overnight stay at a local hotel
  • A Chautauqua Lake lunch or dinner cruise aboard The Summer Wind
  • A winery tour
  • And more!
